Mehria Sadat

She began the day with great difficulty and still felt the fatigue of the previous day. There were still many tasks left to do, which she had to complete with the help of her parents. She was tired of constantly moving from one place to another. She didn’t know what consequences would arise in this new place or who she would meet.

The house was beautiful, and the girl lived there happily and peacefully with her family.

After a year, the girl had a dream where she saw a well-spoken, melodious person, but she couldn’t make out his face. This dream preoccupied her thoughts, and she felt good about it. She repeatedly had the same dream several nights in a row, but she didn’t know who this person was.

One day, in a semi-dream state, she suddenly heard rapid footsteps coming down the stairs. Without thinking, she went to the balcony to see who was descending so hurriedly. Suddenly, upon seeing the person, her whole body trembled, and her breath quickened. It seemed as though her heart, like a caged bird, was beating against the walls of its cage. Her breaths were so fast, it felt as though they were her last.

Yes! The person was the hero of her dreams, but she still couldn’t make out his face, as he quickly got into a car and drove away, leaving the girl with a myriad of unanswered questions.

Who was this person?
Why was he in such a hurry?
Questions like these stole the girl’s peace, and the sun that day felt hotter than ever. It seemed as if the sun and that mysterious boy had joined forces to torment her.

From that day on, the girl’s mind was consumed with thoughts of the arrogant boy. One day, by chance, they met again, and for a brief moment, their eyes locked. The girl’s heart raced wildly, but the arrogant boy looked away and ignored her, walking past her. The girl discovered that the mysterious boy lived in their neighborhood, and a deep sense of joy filled her heart.

From then on, she sat by the window every day, waiting for the arrogant boy. Sometimes, she would catch a glimpse of him from afar. She could recognize the voice of her beloved, the one with the moon-like beauty, even from a distance.

Her entire life became dedicated to this arrogant boy. This love had penetrated so deeply into her heart and mind that she couldn’t think of anything else except her beloved. She would sit in the corridors of the apartment, talking to the boy’s footprints, even touching the dust of his steps and crying. However, when face to face with him, she would go mute and couldn’t speak a word.

After two years of this painful love, the girl’s family decided to move again, and this news hit the girl’s heart like a bullet, wounding the restless bird deep within her. With each passing day, the girl grew more restless and anxious, praying in her heart that they wouldn’t move.

Now, let’s hear from the arrogant boy:
Lately, he had secretly been watching the girl from time to time, and he had started to feel something good about her, but he didn’t know what to call this feeling.
When they encountered each other, their eyes would lock for a moment, and the girl would quickly look away, not wanting the boy to understand the depth of her feelings. Despite being so infatuated, the girl didn’t want anyone to know about her hidden love, not even the boy himself.

Finally, the fated day arrived…
The day when she was to see her radiant beloved’s face for the last time, to hear his voice for the last time, to speak to the dust of his footsteps for the last time. Oh, how much she hated this day, which was engraved in her troubled mind like a national mourning.

Suddenly, she was jolted out of her daydreams by a familiar voice. Trembling, she went to the window. The boy, with anger visible in his eyes, was yelling at a child.
The girl, astonished, looked at her once-gentle lover, now turned so wild.
Yes! The boy had unknowingly fallen in love with the girl, and now, he was so concerned about her departure that he was even yelling at children.

Yet neither of the two lovers had the courage to express their feelings. It was as if they became mute in each other’s presence. Over the course of these years, they hadn’t exchanged anything other than “hello,” and this silence had caused them both so much agony and longing.

But now, it was too late, and nothing could be done. The boy, with his brow furrowed, walked toward the unknown, while the girl, with a heart full of longing and eyes brimming with tears, watched his swift steps. She knew that this was the last time she would see her beloved, and from now on, she would never see that handsome face again.

The boy didn’t want to witness the girl’s departure, so he walked away to avoid seeing her leave. The girl, with a restless heart and expectant eyes, got into a Car and headed toward her new home.
